Clyde Jackson Alford, 87, of Bremen, passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. He was born on August 5, 1936, the son of the late Herbert Cecil Alford and the late Reba Mae Hale Alford.

Clyde had a heartwarming personality that drew people towards him wherever he went. He was described as a true "people person," he never met a stranger and touched the lives of many with his kind gentle spirit. He was a man of many passions and will be remembered for his love of NASCAR, playing solitaire, and simply sitting on the front porch basking in the beauty of the day and his surroundings. Clyde also dedicated a part of his life in service to his country serving in the US Navy. During his time in the Navy, he received a Distinguished Service Medal for his invaluable contributions and spent two of his four years stationed at Pearl Harbor.

He was a Draftsman for Combustion Engineering in Chattanooga, where he played a significant role in designing nuclear reactors. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Carroll Hurley Alford; sisters, Virginia Spurlock and Marie Hicks.

He is survived by his children, Anna (Harold) Pearson of Bremen, Georgia, Jeff (Darla) Alford of Johnson City, Tennessee and Greg Alford of East Ridge, Tennessee; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren (plus one on the way); several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Lane Funeral Home in Chattanooga. Funeral services will be conducted for Mr. Clyde Jackson at Lane Funeral Home in Chattanooga, Tennessee on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. Mr. Alford leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
