Clyde C. Jones

Mr. Clyde C. Jones, 85, a native of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away following a brief illness Thursday, October 20, 2005 at Tanner Medical Center in Villa Rica, Georgia. He was born June 6, 1920, in Carroll County, Georgia. He was the son of the late Burnett C. Jones and the late Bernie Pope Jones. Mr. Jones was a lifelong resident of Carroll County and a graduate of Villa Rica High School. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica, where he served as a deacon and on various committees. For health reasons, Mr. Jones later moved his membership to his childhood church, Midway Macedonia Baptist Church in Villa Rica. He was a veteran of the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant and serving during World War II. Mr. Jones was a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, Tennessee, where he received his degree in Mortuary Science (D.M.S.) and subsequently became a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He was founder of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica. Mr. Jones was member Emeritus of the Order of the Eastern Star, Dallas Chapter #492 and the Knights Templar of Georgia, Hebron Commandery #23. He was a member of the Villa Rica Masonic Lodge #72 F&AM and was a Shriner. He was a Charter Member of the Villa Rica Lions Club where he held several different offices. In his later years he was a resident of Fairfield Plantation and a very active member of the Fairfield Kiwanis Club. Mr. Jones was a member of the National Funeral Directors Association and the Georgia Funeral Directors Association where he served in the offices of Secretary-Treasurer, Second Vice President, First Vice President and President in 1975-1976. He was also a Georgia Licensed Insurance Agent and served on the Advisory Board of United Family Life Insurance Company in Atlanta (now Assurant Preneed). He was fond of antique cars, owning a 1959 Jaguar Show car that remains in original, mint condition today. He and Mrs. Jones (Shirley) attended many car shows over the years together. In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Shirley Drew Jones on October 3, 1983, his son, J. Alan Jones on May 9, 1989, his son-in-law, Charles W. Wynn on July 16, 2001 and his sister, Reba Jones Boatright. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Melba Adams Jones of Villa Rica; his daughter, Dana Jones Wynn of Villa Rica; his grandson, Jones C. Wynn of Atlanta; his granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Mrs. Ellen Wynn McBrayer and J. Scott McBrayer of Villa Rica; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Betty Drew of Gainesville. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, October 23, 2005 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Rev. Todd Wright officiating. Family prayer will be led by Dr. J. B. Marlow. Musical selections during the service will be rendered by Rev. Ben Pilgreen, piano, and Brandon Kidd, saxophone. Eulogists will be Mrs. Patricia Proctor and T. K. Rainey. Serving as pallbearers will be T. K. Rainey, Franklin Harmon, Burnell Redding, Richard Smith, Darwyn Summerville, Gary Curry, Terry Keaton, Henry Knight and Valerie Wages. Interment will follow in the Jones Estate Garden of Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica with military honors provided by Fort McPherson Military Honor Guard. Visitation will be in the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Saturday, October 22, 2005, from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM, with the family being present from 5:00 PM until 8:00PM. Piano selections played during the visitation will be rendered by Virginia Boynton, Verrill Ray, and Jan Watts. Those desiring to do so may make contributions In Memory of Clyde C.
