Cora Yearty Holloman

Cora Yearty Holloman, 83, of Temple, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024. She was born on November 9, 1940, the daughter of the late Roy F. Yearty, Sr. and the late Gertrude Rush Yearty.

Cora was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She exemplified her love, faith, and dedication throughout her life. Family meant the world to her, particularly her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an excellent cook who took joy in preparing meals for her family on a regular basis, as she believed that gathering around the table was an important tradition that brought everyone together. Cora was a devout Christian, and she was a lifetime member of Liberty Christian Church, where she found both community and spiritual fulfillment. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, influencing her values and the way she interacted with those around her. Cora possessed a deep appreciation for nature, loving gardening and spending time outdoors. Her enthusiasm for life also extended to her love of NASCAR, a passion that brought her excitement and joy.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Verlyn Eugene “Gene” Holloman; brother, Roy F. Yearty, Jr.; sister, Debbie Ann Yearty.

She is survived by her daughter Jan Gerstenberger of Temple; sisters, Sandra Yearty and Sara (Gary) Parrish of Temple; two grandchildren, Daniel (Melissa) White of Temple, Tonya (Bill) Carroll of Smyrna; two great-grandchildren, Kinley and Kelsey; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 30, 2024 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Memorial services will follow at 3:00 PM from the Villa Rica Chapel at Jones-Wynn.
