Mrs. Cordie C. Reid Mrs. Cordie Cantrell Reid, 87, of Bremen, Georgia, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia. She was born September 11, 1918 in Cedartown, Georgia to the late Roy T. Cantrell and the late Cora Dollar Cantrell. Mrs. Reid was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bremen. She was a member of the Gold Star Wives and the Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reid was preceded in death by her first husband, Byron White Thompson, who was killed while serving in World War II; her second husband, Paul Thomas Reid; her brothers, Dewey Cantrell, Norman Cantrell, Vernon Cantrell, Lee Cantrell, and Seals Cantrell; and her baby sister, Jewell Cantrell. Mrs. Reid is survived by her sister, Lynn Cantrell Smith of Kennesaw; son and daughter-in-law, Martin and Nancy Thompson of Blissfield, Michigan; her daughters and son-in-law, Paulette and Dempsey Long of Carrollton and Lynette Rogers and her special friend, Gary Davenport of McCaysville; 6 grandchildren, Craig and Angie Long, Casey and Heather Long, Paula and Zach Turner, Jennifer and Scott Barr, Bethany and Todd Johnson, Byron and Laura Thompson; 10 great grandchildren, Kate Barr, Susanna Barr, Thomas Barr, Lane Long, Carter Long, Luke Long, Braeden Long, Jaxon Long, Zachariah Johnson, and Reid Turner; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, May 1, 2006 at 1:00 PM from the First Baptist Church of Bremen with Rev. Herman Parker and Rev. Alvin Hunnicutt officiating. Music will be provided by Judy Hunnicutt. Mrs. Reid will lie in state on Monday, May 1, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Bremen from 12:00PM until the funeral hour. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Byron Thompson, Craig Long, Casey Long, Zach Turner, Todd Johnson, Scott Barr and two close friends of the family, Chad and Colton Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews. Interment will follow in the Bremen City Cemetery with Rev. Johnnie Carden officiating. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Georgia on Sunday, April 30, 2006 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
