It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of Craig Orville Gonsalves-Barreiro, age 50, of Villa Rica. He passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 18, 2026. Craig was born on May 6, 1975, the son of George Gonsalves-Barreiro and Beatrice Lewis.
Craig was a dedicated police officer with the Atlanta Police Department, serving the city of Atlanta for over twenty years. His commitment to public service and community safety was matched by his pride in his role within the department. Family meant everything to him, and he embraced every opportunity to express his love and support for his loved ones. Craig had a unique ability to light up a room with his infectious laughter and quick wit. Craig had an infectious sense of humor and was often the jokester among friends and loved ones, bringing laughter and joy into their lives. He cherished the moments spent with family and friends, always aiming to create lasting memories.
His life extended beyond his professional responsibilities. Craig's faith played an integral role in his life and the lives of those around him. In his spare time, Craig found enjoyment in fishing.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Shakera Williams Gonsalves-Barreiro; daughters, Azaria Gonsalves-Barreiro, and Sienna Gonsalves-Barreiro; sons, Kai Gonsalves-Barreiro, and Aaron Gonsalves-Barreiro; sisters, Andrea Gonsalves-Barreiro, and Debbie Gonsalves-Barreiro; brothers, Carl Gonsalves-Barreiro, and George Gonsalves-Barreiro Jr.; nieces and nephews, Darnell Gonsalves-Barreiro, Rashard Jerel Carlos, Kiah Muller, Keva Muller, Carl Gonsalves-Barreiro Jr. (CJ), Jaydah Gonsalves-Barreiro, Anique Roberts, Arianna Gonsalves-Barreiro, Lyrissa Samuel, Neisha Gonsalves-Barreiro, Misha Williams, Makeed Williams, Nahfshiyah Roberts, Aniyah Gonsalves-Barreiro, and George Anthony Gonsalves-Barreiro.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Passion City Church in Atlanta from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM with funeral services at 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at North Atlanta Memorial Park in Atlanta, Georgia.
Craig’s legacy is one marked by his service, unwavering dedication, and profound love for his family. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
