Mr. Curtis Howard Long, age 90, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 8, 2019. Curtis was born in Sugar Valley, Georgia on August 5, 1928, the son of Mr. Hubert Long and Willie Mae Ingle Long. Curtis was a veteran of WWII where he served as a paratrooper and military police. After his time in the service he married the love of his life, Mary Helen Bennett, on July 12, 1957. He was a machinist by trade and after retiring from Lockheed,he enjoyed Braves baseball, growing a vegetable garden and spending time with his family. Curtis most of all loved Jesus. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, David Long; daughter-in-law, Julia Long; sisters, Rosemary Long, June Duggar, and Paulette Bagley; brothers, Wayne Long, Ray Long, and Norman Long.He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Long; daughter and son-in-law, Karen Long and Marcus Graham; sisters, Maxine McKinmey, Margo Johnson, and Margaret Dean; brother,Johnny Long; grandchildren, Matthew David and Jennifer Long, Rachel, Kelsey, and Hunter Graham; great grandchildren, Myles Long and Wylee Long. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville, Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, February 14, 2019 from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville at 2:00 PM with Rev. Marcus Miller officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America 322 Eighth Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.Messages of condolences may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
