Dalton “John” Bourque, age 88, known to many as "Pa," passed away at his home surrounded by family, on March 14, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories. John was born in Louisiana on July 23, 1935, to the late Mr. Ophe Bourque and the late Mrs. Laura Guidry Bourque.
John dedicated over 39 years of his life to the Federal Aviation Administration before retiring. His work ethic was unmatched, marked by his time in the Air Force for over 4 years and later as a distinguished volunteer at Wellstar Douglas Medical Center. John's personality shone brightly through his witty nature, intelligence, and incredible handiness. He was a devoted family man who took great pride in his role within the community, being a member of the Knights of Columbus with St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
In his free time, John enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. Whether he was engrossed in a book in the sunroom, relaxing on the front porch rocking chair, or meticulously cutting grass, his contentment was palpable. He especially loved playing dominos with his beloved grandkids.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Bourque; sisters, Velma Langlinais, Myrtle Kilday, Wilda Vincent, Hilda Gary, and Irene Bourque.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Patricia Bennett Bourque; sons, Michael John Bourque, David Joseph Bourque, James Edward (Angela) Bourque; daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Ellis; sisters, Eulan Richard and Dolores Romero; grandchildren, Tabatha Nicole Rider and her fiancé Chad Carhart, Joshua Michael Huey, John Richard Bourque, Samantha Bourque (Brandon) Tucker, Amanda Leigh (Ryan) Meyer, Kirsten Cheyenne "K.C." (Clayton) Reece, Nikola Ellis Foster, Zachary Joseph (Jenna) Ellis; great-grandchildren, Carson Tim Rider, Dalton Major Rider, Nora Kate Tucker, John Clifton "JC" Tucker, Knox Curtis Meyer, Blake Louise Meyer, Stetson Thomas Meyer, Kirstofer Tobias Reece, Ellis Kirby Reece, Victoria Nadine Heim, Eliana Grace Ellis, Collier Grey Ellis; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 8, 2024 at 6:00 PM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church. The funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 12:00 PM at St. John Vianney Catholic Church with Father Jack officiating. The inurnment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville.
