Rev. Daniel Dan Zadoc Houston, age 72 of Winston, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019. He was born April 8, 1947 in Toccoa, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Charlie Coleman Houston and the late Mrs. Mamie Lou Wilbanks Houston. Mr. Houston joined the Navy right after High School. Dan was a Navy corpsman assigned to Third Battalion, Third Marines Vietnam and he was awarded three Purple Hearts. Mr. Houston was called into the ministry in 1984 where he served at Bethel Baptist Church in Smyrna, Georgia, Corinth Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Georgia, Ephesus Baptist Church in Winston, Georgia, Macland Baptist Church in Powder Springs, Georgia, and Westview Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia. Upon retirement he enjoyed riding with the Patriot Guard riders, spending time with his family, and living life to its fullest. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by sisters, Martha Houston and Sandra Houston; brother-in-law, Bob Vincent Mr. Houston is survived by his wife of 52 years, Vicki Bagwell Houston of Winston, Georgia; daughters and sons-in-laws, Kimberley and Robert Barronton of Cumming, Georgia, Rhonda Houston of Carrollton, Georgia, Amy and Derek Skinner of Carrollton, Georgia; siblings, Harriet Judy Vincent of Douglasville, Georgia, Mary Beth and Tom Stallings of Dacula, Georgia, Tim and Beverly Houston of Flowery Branch, Georgia, Barry Houston of Stokesdale, North Carolina, and Olivia and Jimmy Bishop of Athens, Alabama; nine grandchildren, Katie Louise Barronton, Jacob Daniel Barronton, Nathan Zadoc Skinner, Matthew Jack Skinner, Maggie Ruth Barronton, Charles Edmond Skinner, John Derek Skinner, Molly Victoria Skinner, and Anna Katherine Skinner; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville Thursday, August 8, 2019 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Friday, August 9, 2019 from 9:30 AM until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville with Dr. Billy Godwin officiating.
