Mr. David Lee Honea, 76, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. He was born November 26, 1939 in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Alva Fred Honea and the late Mrs. Bobbie Lee Scoggins Honea. He was a veteran serving in the United States Army. He worked at Superior Printing and Ink. He was an amateur golfer. He was a former professional Golden Glove Boxer. He boxed all over the United States and went 13 ½ years without being knocked out. In 2007, he was inducted in the Boxing Hall of Fame. He coached boxing for years and trained a young man that went on to the Olympics. He is survived by his wife, Janice Dabbs Lee Honea of Douglasville; three daughters, Brittney Michelle Honea of Douglasville, Tammy Lee Kelly of Douglasville and Donna Wadsworth of South Carolina; son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Reneigh Davis of Acworth; sisters, Ruth Bracknell of Macon and Pasty Montgomery of Kingston; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
