David Scott Monroe

David Scott Monroe, 69, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on July 24, 2026. He was born on April 10, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Jean Stumphf Monroe and David Seth Monroe.

David will be remembered as a man deeply devoted to his family, someone for whom loved ones always came first. He was well known for his sense of humor and quick wit—one who was always ready with a joke to bring a smile or a laugh to those around him. Music was a constant thread throughout David’s life. He found joy both in playing and in sharing musical moments with family and friends.

Traveling was another passion of David’s; he especially cherished his trips to Florida and Las Vegas. These adventures brought him great happiness and lifelong memories. Among David’s greatest sources of pride were his grandchildren. He spoke of them often, filling conversations with stories and updates, and his love for them shone brightly in all he did. His warmth and supportive spirit made family gatherings especially meaningful, always making sure everyone felt valued and included.

David Scott Monroe’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and togetherness. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Mrs. Judith Reid Monroe; daughter and son-in-law, Amber (Joey) Hand; son and daughter-in-law, David (Angie) Monroe; sisters, Kimberly Addison and Carolyn Green; brothers and sisters in law, Kelly (Patty) Monroe and Kent (Cathy) Monroe; grandchildren, Matthew Monroe, Mason Monroe, Austin Hand and Emily Hand.
