David Sweat

Mr. David Mitchel Sweat, age 81, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2018. He was born in Ware County, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Purdom Howard Sweat and the late Mrs. Lillie Elizabeth Roland Sweat. David worked as a painter for General Motors, at NAPA Auto Parts and most recently at O’Reilly’s in Villa Rica. He loved playing music, singing and playing the guitar. David loved the Lord and was dedicated to his church, Gateway Baptist Church, Villa Rica, where he served as a deacon.In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his first wife, Claudia Sweat, his step-son, Richard Gary Seals; his brothers, Howard Sweat, Westley Sweat and Revis Sweat; and his sisters, Shirley Edenfield and Doris Bennett.He is survived by his wife, Joan Delores Blair Sweat; his daughter and son-in-law, Kelly D. and Charles Short of Calhoun, Georgia; his sons and daughter-in-law, Venoy D. and Penny Sweat of Rockmart, Joey E. Sweat of Dallas and Hoyt Daniels Seals of Powder Springs; his sister, Clarice Dowling of Waycross; his brother and sister-in-law, Travis and Myra Sweat of Dallas; sister-in-law, Marie Sweat of Waycross; five grandchildren, four step-grandchldren, four great grandchildren, two special adopted granddaughters, Brooklyn Willis and Kylee Walker; and many nieces and nephews also survive.The family will receive friends at Gateway Baptist Church, 9710 Highpoint Road, Villa Rica, Georgia on Saturday, October 27, 2018 from 1:00PM until 2:00PM. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00PM with Reverends Josh Agan, Jeff Byrd, CT Warren and Larry Argo officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made In Memory of Mr. David Sweat to the building fund at Gateway Baptist Church, 9710 Highpoint Road, Villa Rica, Georgia 30180.Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
