David Trenholm Rickard

David Trenholm Rickard Mr. David Trenholm Rickard, age 80, of Villa Rica, Georgia passed away Thursday, December 24, 2009 at Altus House Hospice. He was born July 20, 1929 in Corvallis, Oregon the son of the late Mr. Raymond Gilmore Rickard and the late Mrs. Evelyn Trenholm Rickard. He married Marian Hugus on July 29, 1950 in Eugene, Oregon. He received his BS in Divinity from the Cascade Seattle Pacific University and his Masters in Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary. He held two degrees in the Masters of Arts and Linguistics from the University of Hawaii-Manoa. He was a member of the Oregon-Idaho Conference United Methodist Church where he served as a minister and missionary. He served in the mission fields in Nigeria, Liberia and West Africa. He was a professor at the University of Hawaii for 28 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Lowell Rickard. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Madge Marian Rickard of Villa Rica; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Kay “Mimi” Rickard Fricke and Michael Fricke and 2 grandchildren, Alex and Carson Fricke of Villa Rica; son and daughter-in-law, David L. “Bud” Rickard and Anne Goehe and 2 step grandchildren, Emma and John Boyea of Decatur. Brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Janice Rickard of Vancouver, Washington and sister-in-law, Tana Rickard and Family of Sweet Home, OR; several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Trinity Anglican Church, 5780 Fairburn Road, Suite A, Douglasville, Georgia 30134 with Father Stephen Saul officiating. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make contributions may do so to the Rickard Fellowship at the University of Hawaii, 2444 Dole Street, Bachman Hall 105, Honolulu, Hawaii 96822.
