Dennis O'Neal "Neal" Brown, Jr.

Mr. Dennis “Neal” O’Neal Brown, Jr., age 54, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Monday, October 27, 2008. Mr. Brown was born June 30, 1954 in Douglas County, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Dennis O’Neal Brown, Sr. and Mrs. Betty McKown Brown Smith. He was a 1972 graduate of Douglas County High School and he graduated with an International Business degree from the University of Georgia in 1976 and was a member of the Phi Gama Delta fraternity. After graduation, Mr. Brown began a multitude of business ventures that eventually culminated in the creation of West Georgia Properties, an industrial and commercial real estate company in west Georgia. His notable accomplishments include being instrumental in the development of Arbor Place Mall and various other developments in the west Georgia area. Mr. Brown was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica, where he actively participated in the Mercy Seekers Sunday School Class and was chairman of the Building Committee. Mr. Brown was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother and son, who enjoyed spending time with his family above anything else. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elaine Hamrick Brown of Douglasville; his sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Katie Brown of Douglasville, Ben and Shana Brown of Douglasville and Jonathan Brown of Temple; his mother, Mrs. Betty McKown Brown Smith of Dallas; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Cindy and Calvin Thompson of Dallas, Susan Tibbitts of Dallas and Jennifer and Jimmy Davis of Villa Rica; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, October 31, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the First Baptist Church of Villa Rica with Rev. Jeff Jones officiating. Musical selections will be rendered by Rev. Ben Pilgreen. Serving as pallbearers will be Calvin Thompson, Jimmy Davis, Dwight Hufstetler, Russ West, Larry Boggs, Dennis Gardner,Gerald Barron, Ben Brown, Dennis Brown and Jonathan Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be the Mercy Seekers Sunday School Class from First Baptist Church of Villa Rica. Interment will follow in Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville on Thursday, October 30, 2008 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM and from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
