Mr. Dixon âJ.R.â Shead, 72, of Bremen, Georgia passed away Friday, December 22, 2006 at his residence. He was born April 16, 1934 in Clarkdale, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Dixon Shead and the late Mrs. Faye Broom Shead. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Temple. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War and served 10 years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked as a mechanic for Lockheed for over 16 years. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy R. âPeteâ Burns. He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Thelma Burns Shead of Bremen; four daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Michael VanOrden of Temple, Cherry and Ken Keaten of Chapin, SC, Kathy Mullis of Cumming, and Donna and Joe Lane of Tampa, FL; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jay and Elizabeth Shead of Buchanan, Ralph and Stephanie Shead of Winder, and Darryl B. Burns of Temple; four sisters; 3 brothers; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, December 24, 2006 at 2:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny White and Rev. Aaron Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with the following serving as pallbearers: Trent Keaten, Clint Keaten, Charlie McElroy, Matt Mullis, Eric Mullis, and David Houston.
