Donald Lee Chambers, age 88, affectionately known as "D.L.," was born on September 6, 1936, in Alabama, to the late Mr. Robert Lee Chambers and the late Mrs. Eva Viola Preston Chambers. He passed away peacefully at home on February 14, 2025, leaving behind a legacy defined by his outgoing personality and deep love for family.

Throughout his life, D.L. built a fulfilling career at Marta and retired as a Train Operator. He was known not only for his professionalism but also for his friendly demeanor and sense of humor. His approach to life was characterized by a loving spirit, which endeared him to colleagues and friends alike.

D.L. was a man of many interests. He often spent time tinkering in his basement, engaged in various projects that showcased his ingenuity and enthusiasm for hands-on work. He found joy in yard work and delighted in searching for treasures at local flea markets. His passion for exploring new finds extended to attending auctions, playing bingo and working on cars, activities that enriched his life and allowed him to connect with others who shared similar hobbies.

Above all, D.L. was immensely proud of his family, cherishing the moments spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His love for them was a constant source of joy in his life and a testament to the values he instilled in those who came after him.

In addition to his parents, D.L. is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Mrs. Margie Chambers; brothers, Kerry Chambers, and Don Chambers; sister, Doris Chambers.

He is survived by his sons, Alan Chambers, and Jeff Chambers; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Frank Ragan; grandchildren, Jennifer Alicia Ragan, Katie (Travis) Scogin, and Autumn Ragan; great-grandchildren, Noah Scogin and Rylee Scogin.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home – Douglasville Chapel. The interment will follow at Sunrise Gardens of Memories with Dr. Jim Grieme officiating.
