Donald E. Leasher, 72, of Lithia Springs, Georgia entered into peaceful rest on January 22, 2025. Mr. Leasher was born on July 9, 1952 in Midland, Ohio to the late Donald Willis Leasher of Denton, Texas and the late Clara Viola Miller Leasher of New Vienna, Ohio.
Mr. Leasher was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam Era from September 1971 until September 1975. After an honorable discharge from the military, Mr. Leasher turned his career to the Public Safety field where he served faithfully for forty-five years. Mr. Leasher retired in 2010 as Public Safety Commander and again in 2014 as Fire Chief of Union City, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold Wayne Leasher of Midland, Ohio, Terry Leonard Leasher of Blanchester, Ohio, Richard Lee Leasher of Wilmington, Ohio; two half-sisters, Linda Inlow of Midland, Ohio, Helen Dolores Mann of Hillsboro, Ohio.
Mr. Leasher is survived by his wife, Lana F. Leasher of Lithia Springs, Georgia; his five children Alicia (James) Easterly of Acworth, Georgia, Jennifer (Rocky) Croft, of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Jason(Debbie) Leasher of South Salem, Ohio, Melissa Cannizzo of Douglasville, Georgia, Timothy Leasher of Iowa; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Dianna Leasher of Wilmington, Ohio; half-sister, Dallas Matthews of Denton, Texas; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members also survive.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home and Crematory of Douglasville. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Pickett’s Mill Baptist Church in Dallas, Georgia at 10:00AM with Pastor Johnny Nix officiating. Mr. Leasher will be laid to rest at 1:00PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to, The Wounded Warrior Project, Veterans in Transition Inc., and Georgia Fallen Firefighters Foundation Inc.
