Mr. Donald Lee Jackson, age 89, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Atlanta Medical Center. He was born September 24, 1919 in Winder, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Lucas Jackson and the late Mrs. Ruth Williams Jackson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Normandy Invasion and was awarded the European Campaign Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal during his faithful service to our country. He married Doris Street on October 28, 1951 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Mr. Jackson was a Christian and he retired from Apac, Inc. as a truck driver following 25 years of service. He was known as “Mr. Fix It”. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. He was devoted to his beloved wife and family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his one sister and six brothers. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mrs. Doris Street Jackson of Douglasville; daughters and sons-in-law, Janet Lee and Bob Hargrove of Spartanburg, SC and Vicki and Emory “Babe” Green of Winston; his beloved grandchildren, Cindy Green Underwood, Stephanie Green Parson, Amissa Hargrove Greer, and Robert Donald Hargrove; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, January 2, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Minister Robert Donald Hargrove officiating. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens with the following serving as pallbearers: Jerry Street, Babe Green, Bob Hargrove, John Underwood, Ashley Parson and Frank Jackson. Full Military Honors will be provided by the Georgia Army National Guard. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Friday, January 2, 2009 from 11:00 AM until the funeral hour.
