Donald Marvin Meyer CSM (Army Retired)

Command Sergeants Major (CSM) Donald Marvin Meyer, age 84, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital. He was born June 20, 1925 in Hamilton, Ohio the son of the late Mr. Walter Meyer and the late Mrs. Frieda Schindler Meyer. He married Jane June Hines on January 25, 1964 in Elton, Maryland. He was of the Catholic Faith. He faithfully served in the United States Army for over 29 years, retiring as a Command Sergeants Major (CSM). During his military career, he served in World War II, and in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed fishing and wine making. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mrs. Jane June Meyer of Lithia Springs, GA; daughter, Sharon Gilbert of London, KY; sons and daughter-in-law, Walter J. and Carol Meyer of Tacoma, WA and Edward Meyer of Douglasville, GA; sister, Janet Hand of Costa Mesa, CA; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM from St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 1920 Skyview Drive, Lithia Springs, Georgia with Father Carl Zdancewicz officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family from www.jones-wynn.com.
