Donna Lou Ellis, 81, of Marietta, GA, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. She was born on June 29, 1944, the daughter of the late Howard Perkins and the late Betty Perkins.
Donna dedicated 44 years of her professional life to United Airlines serving others while traveling the country with her family.
Throughout her life, Donna was known for her kind personality and her unwavering love for those dear to her. A cherished member of her community, she found joy in playing in the handbell choir at her church, a testament to her devotion and passion for music. Friends and family will fondly remember her laughter and spirit, whether it was during spirited Scrabble games or watching her beloved dog, Sammie, who was truly her world.
As a mother, Donna was incredibly supportive to her daughters and took immense pride in her four awesome grandchildren. Her love for them was fierce and unconditional, and she cherished every moment spent with her family. Known for her sweet, innocent nature and as a peacekeeper, she had a remarkable ability to see the good in everyone
Donna's legacy is enriched by the warmth and joy she brought into others’ lives. Her quirky sense of humor and trustful nature endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She embodied love in its purest form, nurturing relationships with a kindness that will be dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Jim Ellis with whom she shared 41 beautiful years of marriage; August 20, 2010.
She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline (Dusty) Gordon and Jennifer (Chad) Hitchcock; sisters, Judy Webb and Peggy Yorks; brother, Robert “Butch” Perkins; and four grandchildren, Max Gordon, Libby Gordon, Will Kitzman, and Avery Hitchcock.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated.
While she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories, her spirit will continue to inspire those she touched during her life.
