Donnie Vee Akins

Mrs. Donnie Vee Akins, age 86, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Monday, January 12, 2009 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital. She was born November 16, 1922 in Greenville, SC the daughter of the late Mr. O.H. Johnson and the late Mrs. Ida Mae Johnson. She was of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Lithia Springs where she served as a pianist and Sunday School teacher. She was a homemaker and was devoted to her family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, L.E. Akins. She is survived by her children, William Jerry Elrod of St. Petersburg, FL, Donald and Janice Elrod of Austell, Lemuel Eugene Elrod of Bremen, Ronald Elrod of Griffin, Richard Edwin Elrod of Lithia Springs, and Amanda Lynn Akins of Kentucky; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, January 15, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. J.J. McGouirk and Rev. Danny McGouirk officiating. Interment will follow at Community Memory Gardens in Bowdon. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Wednesday, January 14, 2009 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
