Dora Marie Ward Meinke

Mrs. Dora Marie Ward Meinke, age 79, of Cartersville, Georgia, formerly of Villa Rica, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010 at Redmond Regional Hospital in Rome. She was born March 10, 1931 in Battle Creek, Michigan the daughter of the late Mr. James Ward and the late Mrs. Ethel Reed Ward. She was a member of the Villa Rica Church of Christ. Mrs. Meinke was a retired nurse. She was an avid reader and enjoyed puzzles. She was devoted to her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an excellent cook. She enjoyed sewing and cooking meals and special cakes and cookies for her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Lawrence Meinke on May 16, 1994 and her son, Brian Logan Meinke on October 5, 1990. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Star Smith of Taylorsville and Shari and Ricky Brook of Villa Rica; son, Terry Meinke of Carrollton; 6 grandchildren, Eric Brook, Terry Sullens, Jennifer Holtin, Katherine Meinke, Matthew Sullens and James Meinke; 2 great-grandchildren, Honoria Holtin and Michael Stephens; step grandchildren, Starrann Smith and Bobby Smith; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, May 17, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica with Minister Patrick Gray officiating. Interment will follow on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Villa Rica.
