Doris Carroll Newman

Mrs. Doris Carroll Newman, age 85, of Bremen, Georgia passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton, Georgia. She was born October 7, 1924 in Carroll County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Avery Carroll and the late Mrs. Leila Pollard Carroll. Mrs. Newman was a member of the First Baptist Church of Temple. She worked as a presser at Arrow Shirt Company and at Lockheed during World War II. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Newman was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Herman Wayne Newman; her brothers, Dewey Carroll, Herschel Carroll, Horace Carroll, Eck Carroll, Hubert Carroll, William “Bud” Carroll, Taft Carroll and Clarence Carroll; and sisters, Evelyn Summerville, Ethel Carroll, and Sudie Armstrong. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Ronald Fox of Temple; her granddaughter, Brittany Fox of Temple and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, January 11, 2010 at 1:00PM from the First Baptist Church of Temple with Revs. Larry Boswell and Mark Haney officiating. Musical selections will be rendered by her family. Interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica, Georgia. The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church of Temple on Monday, January 11, 2010 from 11:30AM until the funeral hour.
