Doris Mae Wagner, age 87, passed away on November 2, 2024. She was born on March 26, 1937, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to the late Mr. Raymond Link and the late Mrs. Irene Stiffler Link.
Doris led a life full of adventure, joy, and unwavering love for her family and friends. She was well-known in her community and loved for her work in hospitality at the Holiday Inn in Douglasville, Georgia. Her profession was an extension of her lively charm; she was a true "people person" who thrived in social environments. With her feisty and fiery demeanor, Doris was never one to shy away from expressing her mind.
Her love for sports was palpable, as she was a passionate fan of both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Braves. But it wasn’t just the thrill of the games that brought joy to her life; it was also her deep affection for her animals—her beloved cats, Taffy and Midnight, and her dear dog, Sofie.
As a person of great strength and determination, Doris embraced life to the fullest. She had an insatiable love for music and she especially loved going to Rock and Country concerts. Doris also cherished her travels, particularly her cruises to Alaska, adventures in Hawaii, as well as Graceland, and her annual visits to Florida. Among her great loves was Elvis Presley, whose music resonated deeply with her heart.
But perhaps her proudest accomplishments were her family—the irreplaceable legacy of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Doris’s love for them was unconditional, and she poured herself wholeheartedly into their lives.
Doris is survived by her son, Joe Basile; daughters, Patricia Scott and Becky Wagner-Bishop; grandchildren, Matthew Wagner, Greg Basile and his wife Mariana Oliveira-Cardozo, Joe Basile III David Scott II and Anne Redmon, and Brian Scott; great-grandchildren, David Scott III and Olivia Scott; as well as close friends, Brenda, Peggy, Ray, Devan, Julio, Kim, Mae, Sherry, Shay, Rosie, Greg, and the Newtons.
In addition to her parents, Doris is preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Denise Basile; who she dearly loved.
In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Doris Wagner was cremated.
