Mrs. Dorothy Christine Strickland Bell, age 84, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Wellstar Douglas Hospital. A native of Douglas County, she was born February 5, 1926, the daughter of the late Paul and Ellen Strickland. She worked in the textile industry. She was devoted to her family and was proud of her large family of eight children. She was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and yard work. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Homer H. Bell; her daughter, Patricia Diane Crenshaw and sons, Ray E. Bell and Jimmy L. Bell. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Janie E. and Steve Hubbard of Douglasville and Deborah Lynn and Lewis Cole of Whitesburg; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry H. and Jane Bell of Bremen, Terry U. Bell of Douglas County and Jacky F. and Aline Bell of Douglas County; sisters, Willie Jones of Carroll County and Jean Fountain of Douglas County; brother, Raymond Strickland of Douglas County; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 3:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Eric Ramphdolt officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday, May 22, 2010 from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
