Dorothy H. "Mama Dot" Acree

Mrs. Dorothy H. “Mama Dot” Acree, age 79, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born October 10, 1929 in Jefferson County, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Mr. Pleasant Armstead Hester and the late Mrs. Sarah Ruth Pierce Hester. She married Charles Edgar Acree, Jr. on September 3, 1952. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. She was known as “Mama Dot” by those that knew her. She was an active church member and enjoyed fellowship with her church family. She was devoted to the Lord and was a Proverbs 31 woman who cherished her family and friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edgar Acree, Jr.; and her oldest son, Chuck Acree. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Rev. Randy Shirley of Douglasville and Patricia and Michael Witte of Stockbridge; son and daughters-in-law, Ron and Angie Acree of Villa Rica; and Amy Acree of New Ulm, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren, Rebecca (Robert) Williams, Christi (Tim) Whitley, John (Elizabeth) Shirley, Jason (Mary) Sorrells, Kim (Nolan) Moye, Nikki (Billy) Johnson, Ami Wilkerson, Curtis Acree, Nathan Fuerbach, Jessica Acree, Dakota Acree, Hunter Acree, Si Acree, Matt Hillesheim, and Mark Hillesheim; 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 11:00 AM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Shirley and Rev. R.C. “Ikey” Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
