Dorothy (Dottie) Mae Hochard Kent, 88, of Douglasville passed away on October 30, 2019. Dottie was born on May 4, 1931, in Centralia, KS, the daughter of Charles E. and Mary E. (Miller) Hochard. She graduated from Centralia High School in the class of 1949. On April 5, 1952, she married Henry Franklin (Frank) Kent, Sr. He preceded her in death in 2007. Dottie retired from Georgia Federal Bank, but continued to work with her husband for several years in various family businesses. Dottie was a devout Catholic and remained active at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Douglasville until her health prevented her from doing so. She served her parish as a Eucharistic minister, ran the church gift shop, served on the Adoration committee, and numerous other ministries which earned her recognition as the "Woman of the Year" for her parish Council of Catholic Women in 2004. She served Douglas County providing her help as a poll worker for many years. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening and bird-watching, especially hummingbirds. Mrs. Kent was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; by her brothers, Lawrence Hochard, Melvin Hochard and Donald Hochard; and by her sister, Marcella Hochard Smith. She is survived by her five daughters and three sons and their spouses, Cindy & Mike Hunter of Owasso, OK; Judy & Clay Mayfield of Marietta; Vicky & Jerry Drisaldi of Roswell; Cathy & Michael Legrand of Ball Ground; Laura & Arthur Hayes of Canton; Henry Franklin (Skip), Jr. & Beth Kent of Douglasville; Michael & Vickie Kent of San Antonio, TX; David & Karen Kent of Douglasville; grandchildren, Jasen Hunter,Jon Hunter, Kathryn Hunter Hoelscher, Jessica Mayfield von Essen, Jeff Mayfield, Jennifer Drisaldi Huber, Jonathan Drisaldi, Stephen Drisaldi, Adam Legrand, Nicole Legrand Larson, Erin Legrand Porche, Ethan Hayes, Ryan Kent, Kirsten Kent, Sammy Kent, Casey Kent Culleton, Courtney Kent Shockley, Cayla Kent Nabors, Caitlyn Kent Markham, Christopher Kent, Colby Kent, Calleigh Kent and Sela Kent; great-grandchildren, Brianna Hunter, Jase Hunter, Taylor Hunter, Dylan Hunter, Jaycee von Essen, Jake Huber, Josh Huber, Jack Huber, Joey Drisaldi, Emma Drisaldi, Lucy Drisaldi, Caroline Drisaldi, Peter Drisaldi, Scarlett Drisaldi, Camilla Drisaldi, Amon Legrand, Parker Larson, Mila Larson, Nora Porche, Caydon Culleton, Tristan Culleton, Hawk Shockley, Soren Shockley, Atlas Shockley, Aaron Markham, Audrey Markham and Ruby Kent; one surviving brother, Clement William "Bill" Hochard of Topeka, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Douglasville, Georgia. Family will receive guests prior to the Mass, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A private family service will follow at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 4401 Prestley Mill Road, Douglasville, GA 30135.
