Dorothy Levesta Moon

Dorothy Levesta Stover Moon, 92, of Villa Rica, (formerly of Mableton, Georgia) passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. She was born on July 23, 1931, the daughter of the late John Calvin Stover and the late Lorraine Talley Stover.

She had a true passion for cooking and delighted in preparing Sunday dinners for her loved ones. She had an affinity for fishing and enjoyed the serenity of the water. Observing hummingbirds and engaging in birdwatching were among her favorite pastimes. Her dedication to gardening brought beauty to her surroundings, particularly with her roses. She had a creative spirit that extended beyond the cooking and gardening. Dorothy was a great seamstress and took great pride in her work. Not only was she a great seamstress, she crocheted, cross-stitch, needle point and did upholstering and quilting. Over the years, she used this skill to contribute to her community, serving others selflessly.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years Arthur Rogers Moon.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Tammy Moon of Heflin, Alabama, Tony and Miriam Moon of Ellijay, Georgia, and Kenneth and Laura Moon of Temple, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jimmy Dean of Blue Ridge, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Eric and Cammy Moon, Nathaniel and Juliete Moon, Jimmy Dean, Michael Dean, Savannah and Dylan Fuller, Kensley Moon, Christi and Steve Luce, Katie and Josh Dixon, and Tiffany Ashley; and twenty-two great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 1:00 PM from Jones-Wynn Villa Rica Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
