Mrs. Dorothy Virginia Champion Tallent, age 72, of Atlanta, passed away April 26, 2016. She was born September 4, 1943 in Atlanta, the daughter of the late Mr. Henry Edward Champion and the late Mrs. Dorothy Bernice Allen Champion. Mrs. Tallent was a very independent woman; she loved to help the homeless in downtown Atlanta. She was known for taking care of others before herself, she volunteered at several hospice organizations in the downtown Atlanta area. Mrs. Tallent was a member of Avondale Church of God for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Robertson; brother-in-law, Earl Maple. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Sherry Tallent of Lawrenceville, Robbie and Michele Tallent of Loganville; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda Maple of Douglasville, Janet and Allen Morgan of Dallas; grandson, Will Paradis of Lawrenceville; father of her children, Eugene T. Tallent, Sr. of Waco. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Friday, April 29, 2016 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, April 29, 2016 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Pastor Teresa Rolls officiating. In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made to Red (Redeeming Every Dream), P. O. Box 965039, Marietta, GA 30066 or Welcome Hill Baptist Church, 5601 Story Road, Powder Springs, GA 30127. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
