Mr. Douglas Eugene Meherg, 61, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born on February 5, 1947 in Clanton, Alabama, the son of the late Mr. Ira Lee Meherg and the late Mrs. Minnie Bell Tarwater Meherg. Mr. Meherg married Lydia Ann Fowler on June 8, 1968 in Heflin, Alabama. He worked as a painter. In addition to his parents, Mr. Meherg was preceded in death by his brothers, Hoyt Lee Meherg, Willie Meherg and Olean Meherg. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mrs. Lydia Fowler Meherg of Carrollton; his daughter, Lisa Ann Driver of Carrollton; his son and daughter-in-law, Bradley Eugene and Diane Meherg of Carrollton; his sisters, Ida Sue Meherg of Villa Rica, Myrtle Roper and Gaynell Kline, both of Carrollton; brothers, Neal Meherg of Carrollton, James Meherg of Douglasville and Glenn Meherg of Villa Rica; 3 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Minister Floyd Minter officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Drew Jiles, Travis, Scott, Milton David “Debe Bo”, and Timmy. Interment will follow in the Garden of Gethsemane at Meadowbrook Memory Gardens on Hickory Level Road in Villa Rica. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Villa Rica, Wednesday, October 1, 2008 from 10:00 AM until the funeral hour.
