Dr. Mariam George (Kunjumol), Parthoor House, of Kunnukuzhi Trivandrum, aged 77, passed away on
24th June, 2022, in Douglasville, Georgia, USA. She is survived by her husband, K. C. George, son Dr. Binu
George and his family including his wife Lubna Javid and sons Zaki and Asim, and her daughter, Ms.
Beena George.
Kunjumol (Mariam) was born in Kerala, India in 1944. She was the fourth of five children of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Daniel. She received her medical degree from Trivandrum Medial College in 1970. She married
Mr. K.C. George (Thiruvinal Kizhekke Thayil, Thumpamon, Kerala) in 1970 and moved to Ghana that
same year, where she worked as a physician. In 1971, her first child, Binu, was born in Ghana and in
1977, her second child, Beena, was born in Zambia. From India to Ghana to Zambia to Nigeria and finally
to Georgia in 1979, she and George built an amazing life through the ups and downs while raising two
children along the way.
Subsequently, Kunjumol completed her residency in Family Practice at Augusta Medical Center. She
established a medical clinic in Douglasville, where she tirelessly served the community for almost 30
years. Kunjumol was a devoted Christian, mother, wife, and physician. She enjoyed gardening, cooking,
reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a dedicated doctor who was
beloved by her patients. Her son, Dr. Binu George, took over her practice in 2015; almost daily, at least
one of her patients tells Binu how much they love her and miss her. She was an active member of St.
Thomas Orthodox Church first and a current member of St. Mary's Orthodox Church, where she enjoyed
the fellowship and the opportunity to worship with her community. Her generosity, compassion,
laughter, and readiness to help those in need will be deeply missed.
