Earnest Davenport

Mr. Earnest Lee Davenport, Sr., age 70 of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019. He was born February 1, 1949, the son of the late Mr. Forrest A. Davenport and Mrs. Margaret E. Walker. Mr. Davenport loved playing the guitar and keyboard. He was affectionately known as E.L.D Live and in color. Mr. Davenport has a great sense of humor, often telling jokes and laughing with those around him. He worked for Shaw Industries for nearly 40 years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Albert Davenport, Charles Davenport and Forrest Davenport, Jr. “Weeder.”He is survived by his wife, Ada Goldthreate Davenport of Douglasville, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Sonya and Tim Moore of Douglasville, Georgia; son, Earnest “Bo” Davenport, Jr. of Birmingham, Alabama; sisters, Adelaide Bumpus of Columbus, Georgia, Mary Ayers of Ft. Payne, Alabama, Mattie Williams of Buffalo, New York, and Dorothy Davenport of Huntsville, Alabama; three grandchildren, Darren, T.J. and Precious; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home of Douglasville on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 14, 2019 at 2:30 PM from Kingdom Hall; 2090 Midway Road; Douglasville, Georgia with Brother Larry Rowland officiating.
