Eddie James Jeffares, 72, of Douglasville, passed away peacefully at his residence on Saturday, February 21, 2026. He was born on September 6, 1953 in Surry County, NC the son of the late Robert James Jeffares and the late Gladys Cassell Jeffares.
Eddie proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years. He retired after thirty years as a civil employee in the Department of Public Works at Fort McPherson. Beyond his military service, Eddie had a passion for life that resonated through various hobbies and interests. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, often finding freedom and joy on the open road. Bowling was another activity he cherished. He also loved genealogy and researching family history, where he eagerly dedicated time to discover the stories and roots of those who came before him. Additionally, Eddie was a devoted fan of NASCAR, eagerly following races and celebrating the thrilling moments of the sport.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert “Bobby” Wayne Jeffares.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene Abenoja Jeffares; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Monika Jeffares of Villa Rica, David and Catrese Jeffares of Washington; step-daughters, Danica Arriane Feria of Douglasville, Rehana Supan of Australia; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathy Harbaugh and Kenneth Alan of Villa Rica, Linda and Randy Wilcox of Temple; three grandchildren, Thomas Jeffares, Jessica Williams Vicente, and Gabriela Krafft; great-grandchildren, Alucard, Dominic; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel with funeral services at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Mozley Gardens.
Eddie James Jeffares leaves a lasting impression on everyone he encountered, remembered for his warmth, adventurous spirit, and dedication to his passions. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
