Mrs. Edith Myrtle “Sue” Dockrey Hughes, age 80, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 at her residence. She was born December 29, 1930 in Copper Hill, Tennessee the daughter of the late Mr. Lon Devo Dockrey and the late Mrs. Jossie Jane Cearley Dockrey. She was a member of Clearview Baptist Church in Douglasville. She was a homemaker who devoted her energy to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Glenda Sue Hughes. She is survived by her husband, Glenn Franklin Hughes of Douglasville; daughter, Laura Jane Hughes Murdock of Douglasville; sister, Odeis Self of Ducktown, TN; brothers, Charlie Dockrey of Calhoun and Lon Dockrey, Jr. of Blue Ridge; 3 grandchildren, Shannon Wayne Acreman of Palmetto, FL, Suzannah Danielle Seavey of Douglasville, and Joshua Glenn Acreman of Powder Springs; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Monday, July 25, 2011 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Akins Funeral Home in Blue Ridge, Georgia from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Akins Funeral Home, 7871 Blue Ridge Drive, Blue Ridge, Georgia 30513 with Rev. Donnie Chandler and Rev. Neal Beard officiating. Interment will follow at the Pan-Will Cemetery in McCaysville, Georgia. Messages of condolence to the family may be sent from www.jones-wynn.com.
