Edith York Bishop

Mrs. Edith York Bishop, 77, of Doe Drive, Temple, Georgia passed away Saturday, September 24, 2005 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia. She was born May 3, 1928, in Haralson County, Georgia. She was the daughter of the late Jessie York and the late Mossie Jones York. Mrs. Bishop worked as a dispatch clerk for BellSouth. She was a loving and giving person who will be missed. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by three brothers, Louie A. York, Lawrence E. York and Merel York and her step-mother, Sudie Abercrombie York, who had raised her since the age of 7. Survivors include her husband, Rowland Bishop of Temple; daughter, Pamela J. Bishop of Doraville; sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald A. Bishop of Indialantic, Florida, Michael A. and Maureen Bishop of Crestview, Florida and Russell A. Bishop of Laurel, Maryland; brothers, Melvin S. York and A. Lee York, both of Tallapoosa; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other close family members and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 7, 2005 at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica. Interment will follow at Providence Baptist Cemetery in Tallapoosa, Georgia. The family will be receiving friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Villa Rica, Thursday, October 6, 2005, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.jones-wynn.com.
