Edward Dill

Mr. Edward J. Dill, 88, of Cary, North Carolina, formerly of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015. He was born June 6, 1926 in Cedartown, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Jefferson Andrew J. Dill and the late Mrs. Mattie Lucinda Pruitt Dill. He was a retired veteran and had a distinguished military career in the United States Navy and Air Force, having served in several locations including Matagorda Island Air Force Base and the Air Force Water Transportation Dock in Port O’Connor, Texas in the late 1960’s. He served with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department at the Fulton County Jail and retired as Captain in 1985.He is preceded in death by his first wife, Annie Laura Erwin Dill; son, Edward Michael Dill; five sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary Annette Shannon Dill of Cary, NC; daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Lawrence West of Victoria, TX and Faye and Charlie Leatherman of Villa Rica, GA; daughter-in-law, Erin Dill of Puyallup, WA; Mary’s Daughters, Theresa and Wilson Huntley of Cary, NC, Cathie and Ron Bloom of Pasadena, TX, and Juanita Daniell of Angier, NC; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and admired by several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville, Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Jim Grieme officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Harmony Memorial Gardens in Mableton with full military honors provided by members of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. Messages of condolence to the family may be sent at www.jones-wynn.com.
