Mr. Edward Wilkes, age 70, of Temple, Georgia passed away Friday, May 14, 2010. He was born January 18, 1940 in Newnan, Georgia, the son of the late Mrs. Ethel Johnson Wilkes and Mr. Eddie Wilkes. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses where he faithfully served as a minister for over 38 years. He retired from General Motors Corporation having worked as a Team Coordinator. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnell Bohannon and nephews, William Terrence Woodard and Harold Wilkes, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Mrs. Joyce Wilkes of Temple; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammi and Robert Boatwright of Douglasville, Debbie and Bart Hobbs of Dayton, Ohio and Cyd Charrise Richardson of Temple;; his father, Eddie Wilkes of Newnan; sister and brother-in-law, Gwendolyn and William Gooch of Palmetto; brother and sister-in-law, Harold and MaryLee Wilkes of Newnan; brother-in-laws Calvin and Rudolph Jones of Dayton, Ohio, one grandson, Robert (Tre’) Boatwright, III, spiritual daughter, Grace Blake and spiritual grandaughter Tay-Tay; nieces and nephews, Debra and Willie Geter, Terese and Dexter Hunter, and James Michael Bohannon; close cousin Wilford (Ann) Wilkes of Dayton; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family. Memorial Services will be conducted Sunday, May 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, 1535 Lake Paradise Road, Villa Rica, Georgia 30180 with Brother Joseph Greco officiating.
