Eleanor Jean Powell

Mrs. Eleanor Jean Powell, age 76, of Douglasville, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 17, 2007. She was born February 5, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia; the daughter of Mr. Artice E. McKenney and Mrs. Della Chandler McKenney. Mrs. Powell was a member of Beulah Baptist Church for fifty four years. She enjoyed spending time reading her Bible and gardening. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, S.L. Barron and Lakes H. Powell; and brother, Seldon Green. Mrs. Powell is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Kenneth and Robin Barron of Crawfordville, Florida; daughters and son in-laws, Sandy and Larry Cole of Dallas, Georgia; and Vicki and Pete Curry of Martin, Georgia; brothers, Glen McKenney of Powder Springs, Georgia; and Terry McKenney of Monticello, Florida; sister, Virginia Hardy of Douglasville, Georgia; and three grandchildren, Carrie and Keith Peterson; Brad Fowler; and Kendall Barron. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 11:00 AM from Beulah Baptist Church in Douglasville, Georgia with Pastor Wayne Bray officiating. Mrs. Powell will lie in state at the church from 10:30 AM until the service hour. Interment will follow in Beulah Baptist Cemetery in Douglasville, Georgia. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel on Friday, May 18, 2007 from 3:30 PM until 9:00 PM. Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel in charge of arrangements.
