Elinor Louise Cross, age 87, of Douglasville, passed away, Wednesday, August 3, 2022. She was born January 4, 1935 in Atlanta, Georgia, daughter of the late Mr. Jesse Floyd Englett and the late Mrs. Mary Louise Shurbutt. Mrs. Cross was the co-founder of Cross & Sons Plumbing that was started in 1976 alongside her late husband, Bud Cross. She also helped establish a chapter of “Retired Enlisted Association” and was a leader in Cub Scouts for many years. Mrs. Cross enjoyed archery, bowling, stained glass work, playing cards, but most importantly her family.
In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Gene Englett and Glynn Englett; sisters, Carolyn Anderegg, Helen DeBerry, Patricia Carver; great grandchild, Ben Cross, son in law, Hugh Hardy.
She is survived by daughter, Marlowe Hardy of Douglasville; sons, Wilbur E. “Gene” Cross, Jr (Amy) of Douglasville, Christopher Scott Cross of Villa Rica; sister in law, Janice Englett of Douglasville; grandchildren, Lori Rogers, Jay (Adrienne) Schoff, David (Haley) Hardy, Kevin (Ashley) Hardy, Cassandra Cross (Fiancé Frank Longino), Amaretta (Steve) Wright), Amelia Geissler, Michael (Chrissy) Cross, Keith Cross, Christy (Jaxon) Jones; great grandchildren, Cody, Morgan, Taylor, Grant, Lincoln, Dylan, Liam, Archie, Reilly, Caydence, Jacob, Mary Beth, Brantlee and Landen; great great grandchildren, Kaydence, Piper, Levi, Jude, Asher, and soon to be Tessa, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wellstar Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Hospice or Boys and Girls Club of Douglas County in Memory of Bud and Elinor Cross.
