Elizabeth Candler

Mrs. Elizabeth Hairston Candler, age 91, of Carrollton passed away Monday, November 15, 2010. She was born September 20, 1919 the daughter of the late Mr. William Harris Hairston and the late Mrs. Annie Petronia Holston Hairston. She retired from teaching at Villa Rica High School. She graduated from LaGrange College and later attended West Georgia College where she received her certification in Library Science. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church of Villa Rica for 69 years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Cobb Candler, December 31, 2009. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Jerry Hesterlee of Carrollton, Mary Ann and Jim McKinnon of Carrollton, son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Madelyn Candler of Villa Rica; eight grandchildren, Janet and Terry Schrews, David and Jill Hesterlee, Michael and Jennifer McKinnon, Christi and Clint Johnson, Patrick and Kim McKinnon, Beth and Rodney Edwards, Sharon and Ben Thomas, and Melissa and David Crabbe; ten great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Villa Rica with Rev. Chad Sadorf and Rev. Al Ruggles officiating. She will lie in state from 10:30 AM until the funeral hour. Visitation with Family and Friends will be held in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Private interment will follow in the Hilllcrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund, Post Office Box 1856, Villa Rica, GA 30180.
