Elizabeth Geneva Leverette, 91, of Douglasville, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. She was born on November 1, 1933, the daughter of the late Roland Ledford and the late Beuna Ledford.
Throughout her vibrant life, Geneva exemplified the true meaning of devotion. She was a cherished member of the First Baptist Church of Douglasville, where she devoted countless hours volunteering in the Library, treasurer of Sunday School class, visiting shut-ins, and participating in senior group. Her warmth and kindness resonated deeply with all those she encountered.
Family was paramount to Geneva; they were the light of her life, and she always put them first. She had a special love for children, dedicating herself to nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, nurturing and supporting their interests. Her love for cartoons and games brought laughter and joy, reminding everyone of her playful and spirited personality.
Geneva's hobbies and interests showcased her love for nature and adventure. She enjoyed gardening, arranging beautiful flowers, birds and fishing. She enjoyed traveling, particularly to the mountains and Florida. She also possessed a fondness for playing Scrabble, a game she turned into a family tradition, teaching everyone how to play and ensuring laughter and friendly competition filled her home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leverette; daughter, Wanda Leverette Watts; brothers, J.B. Ledford and Jerome Ledford; sister, Lillian Stonecypher.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Leverette (Bernie Waller) of Stone Mountain; son-in-law, Ricky Watts of Carrollton; sister, Joan Wheeler, Littleton, Colorado, sister-in-law, Betty Ledford; brother and sister-in-law, Walt and Pat Ledford of Hayesville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Kris Chaffins, Adam Watts, Nikki Musci, Abbie Jackson, Cody Chaffins, Catherine Waller, Samantha Bussell, Jennifer Rains, and Deborah Waller; great-grandchildren, Allyson, Maya, Andrew, Maverick, Thorpe, Gianna, Eva, Mack, Caleb, Collier, Chelsea, Drew, Madison, Nathan, Turner and Jace; three great-great grandchildren, Reagan, Ryan and Waverly; many precious nieces and nephews; numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Douglasville. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM, Sunday, December 22, 2024 at First Baptist Church Douglasville. Interment will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Sunrise Memorial Gardens at 11:00 AM.
