Elmer James “Jim” Shari
1941 - 2024
Mr. Elmer James “Jim” Shari, age 82, of Douglasville, Ga. passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024. He was born on October 4, 1941, in Mount Clemens, Michigan to the late Mr. Sherman B. Shari and the late Velma Bertrand Shari.
Jim as he was known to everyone who knew him will be remembered as a hard working individual. He and His wife Carolyn owned and operated Cornerstone Sewing and Vac in Douglasville for over 25 years. Jim also was a member of the US Navy having served on a destroyer battleship. He spent his past time as an avid golfer and enjoyed RVing and traveling. He also loved to quilt in his retirement and he made each grandchild a quilt, which they will cherish. He was a comedian, not paid, but always joking and making people laugh (or at least trying to).
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Jessica Lynn Rose Shari and brother Sherman Shari.
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ms. Carolyn Joyce Shari; daughter, Marlena (Joel) Ward of Winston, Ga; sons, Jeremiah (Meridith) Shari of Snellville, Jonathan (Amiee) Shari of Decatur and Daniel Shari of Smyrna, Ga.; step-sister, Suzanne Werkema of Michigan; brother, Gary (Sue) Shari of Newport Richy, Fl; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive; several nieces and nephews.
Upon Mr. Shari’s wishes, he will be cremated. The family will have a Celebration of Life for Mr. Jim Shari on Saturday, April 13th, 3:00 PM at Central Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 5811 Central Church Rd. Douglasville, GA 30135
