Mr. Elmer Roscoe Stanton, age 94, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital following a brief illness. He was born September 28, 1917 in Fulton County, Georgia the son of the late Mr. Ernest Stanton and the late Mrs. Katie Nunn Stanton. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended the First Assembly of God Church in Griffin. Mr. Stanton retired as a rail car mechanic and inspector with Southern Railway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Marques Stanton and second wife, Alice Brumbalow Stanton; and his daughter, Carolyn Ellis. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Steve Williams of Douglasville and Patsy and Emory Page of Tampa, FL; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Martha Ann Davis of Powder Springs; sister, Dorothy Stanton Baker of Conyers; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Thursday, November 17, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Friday, November 18, 2011 at 1:00 PM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Rev. Mark Brumbalow officiating.
