Emory Lee Carlisle, 88, of Douglasville, Georgia, a devoted family man, respected salesman, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026. He was born on May 18, 1937, in Jackson, Georgia to the late Mary Harkness Carlisle and John Franklin Carlisle, Sr.. Emory lived a life marked by generosity, a warm spirit, and a passion for the things he held dear.
Emory’s career in uniform sales showcased his talents as a salesman, known for his outgoing nature and an ability to connect with people. Characterized by an infectious enthusiasm, he never met a stranger and was admired for his selfless nature, often putting others before himself. Beyond his professional achievements, Emory was a devoted fan of Georgia Tech football. He was also deeply passionate about NASCAR and he enjoyed the excitement of casinos and the game of poker, reflecting his lively personality.
His service in the United States Navy stands as a testament to his commitment and dedication to his country. Those who knew him remember a man of strong values, pride in his heritage, and deep love for his family. Travel enriched Emory’s life in profound ways, particularly through more than 40 cruises he enjoyed alongside his late wife, Mrs. Linda Carlisle, his beloved companion for 56 years. Their journeys together were filled with shared adventures and memories that Emory cherished deeply.
Emory is survived by his beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Kellie (Eric) Wright, Karen Carlisle, and DeeDe (Kevin) Ellison. His legacy lives on through his cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Wright, Jacob Wright, Erica Wright, Morgan Lewis, Mallory Lewis, Bryant Lewis, Caelyn Ellison, Ashlyn Ellison, and Emmet Ellison, and he was blessed with the joy of great-granddaughter, Lennon Williams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda B. Carlisle, whose partnership and love shaped much of his life, as well as his brother John Franklin Carlisle, Jr..
Emory Lee Carlisle’s life was rich with meaningful relationships and commitment to those around him. His presence will be missed, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. A man of character and warmth, Emory’s legacy endures in the many lives he touched throughout his journey.
In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Carlisle was cremated.
