Mr. Ernest Edwin Hembree, age 90, of Douglasville, passed away Sunday, August 26, 2018. He was born December 26, 1927 in Villa Rica, Flat Rock Community, the son of the late Mr. Homer Candler Hembree and the late Mrs. Myrtie Langston Hembree. Mr. Hembree retired from Lockheed after many years of service. He loved the outdoors, traveling to the mountains, going to the beach and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Mr. Hembree was a long time member of Powell Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family most of all.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Astor Hembree; sister, Vivian H. Cruse; son-in-law, Jack F. Gamel. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Close Hembree of Douglasville; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna Gamel of Douglasville, Becky and Mark Jones, Sr. of Ooltewah, TN, Ann and Mark Bond of Euharlee; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 6:00 Pm until 8:00 PM. Mr. Hembree will lie in state from 10:30 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 11:00 AM from Powell Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas Long officiating. Interment will follow at Powell Chapel United Methodist Cemetery with Rev. Neal Williams officiating.
