Mr. Ernest Powell Sheffield, age 74, of Winston, Georgia passed away Monday, February 23, 2009 at his residence. He was born May 28, 1934 in Douglas County, Georgia the son of the late Mr. William Samuel Sheffield and the late Mrs. Pauline Elizabeth Hardy Sheffield. He was of the Pentecostal Faith. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a Electrical Inspector having served Douglas County for over 18 years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed collecting. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Danny Ray Sheffield; sisters Louise Sheffield and Evelyn Smith; and brothers, Charles Howard Sheffield and Marion Eugene “Buddy” Sheffield. He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol Garmon, Gwen and Jerry Thomason and Linda and Buster Spence all of Douglasville; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Carman Sheffield of Austin, TX and Ronnie and Jan Sheffield of Douglasville; two grandchildren, Shain and Kristen Sheffield of Temple and Jeffery Sheffield; great-grandchildren, Rachel Sheffield, Lexis Sheffield, and Charlee Sheffield; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at 1:00 PM from the Douglas Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home with Rev. James Green officiating. Interment will follow at Douglasville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Tuesday, February 24, 2009 from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM.
