Mrs. Ethel Geneva Hightower Harrison, age 90, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Friday, September 16, 2011 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice following an extended illness. She was born June 27, 1921 in Carroll County, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. William Henry Hightower and Mrs. Maudie Odella Arrington Hightower. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church of Douglasville and was a homemaker. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed her roles of loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Steven L. Harrison; sisters, Lora Hightower, Lera Hightower, and Ella Mae Crews; and brothers, Pete Hightower, Alton Hightower, Ohmer Hightower, and Hoyt Hightower. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Selden Styles Harrison of Douglasville; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Steve Lawler of Douglasville; son and daughter-in-law, Ray and Cathy Harrison of Douglasville; sister and brother-in-law, Willie Maude and Calvin Cooper of Rome; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home, Douglas Chapel, Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Graveside Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in the Tyus Community in Bowdon, Georgia with Dr. Marion Beaver officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Messages of condolence to the family may be sent from www.jones-wynn.com.
