Eubie Turner

Mrs. Eubie Word Turner, age 96, of Lithia Springs, Georgia passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015. She was born November 27, 1918 in Carrollton, Georgia the daughter of the late Mr. Rufus Word and the late Mrs. Viola Farmer Word. She was a homemaker and a faithful member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church. She was a woman after God’s own heart that loved the Lord and her church family. She enjoyed gardening, baking, playing bingo, and quilting. She was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Scott Turner; five sisters and four brothers. She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Roy Williams of Darien, Diane and John Glover of Lithia Springs, and Videll and Larry Haynes of Marietta; sister, Wilma Williams of Carrollton; brothers, Thomas M. and Edna Word of Mableton and Robert O. and Judy Word of Waco; five grandsons; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Jones-Wynn Funeral Home in Douglasville with Pastor Mark Ernst and Pastor Barry Gillis officiating. Musical selections will be provided by David and Debbie Hicks, accompanied by Joy Harper. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Forest Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Colonial Hills Christian School, 7131 Mt. Vernon Road, Lithia Springs, Georgia 30122.
