Evelyn Cook Eskew, 94, of Dallas, passed away on Saturday, September20, 2025. She was born on December 5, 1930, the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Cook and Ida Margaret Merritt Cook.
She was affectionately known as “Cookie and the "Donut Lady" among her family, friends, and church community, Evelyn had a remarkable ability to spread warmth and happiness wherever she went. Family was of utmost importance to Evelyn, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy and happiness.
Evelyn was known for her vibrant personality; she loved everybody and never met a stranger. Her infectious spirit made her one of "The Most Popular Women in the World," and her laughter and kindness drew countless friends into her life. She embraced connections with people from all walks of life, always finding common ground to share joyful moments and create lasting memories. She was a passionate traveler and loved to explore the world, venturing to various destinations. Evelyn lived a life filled with love, adventure, and joy that touched the hearts of many throughout her years.
As we remember Evelyn Cook Eskew, let us celebrate a life well-lived—a life dedicated to loving others and making the world a brighter place. She will be profoundly missed but will continue to live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Frank Eskew; son, Jeffrey Paul Eskew; brothers, James Cook and Jack Cook; sisters, Mary Morgan and Ferrell Wood Anglin.
She is survived by her daughter, Melinda Whitaker of Dallas; grandchildren, Amanda Miller, Caleb Whitaker, Jessica Eskew, Tyler Whitaker, and Brandon Eskew; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Villa Rica Chapel with funeral services at 1:00 PM with Dr. Kevin Williams and Rev. Jeff Powell officiating.
Flowers are accepted; however, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Villa Rica Legacy Group.
