Evie Geneva McCollum, 88, of Douglasville, GA, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. She was born on May 11, 1937, the daughter of the late Willie E. Todd and the late Evie Lee Harris Todd.
Geneva dedicated 26 years of her life to serving the public through her work with the United States Postal Service. Her commitment and reliability made a lasting impact, not just in her career but in the lives of those she encountered along the way.
Geneva was known for her laid-back and easy going personality. She approached life with a heart of gold, always ready to lend a hand or share a smile. Those who were fortunate enough to know her remember her fondly for the joy she brought into their lives. Her love for word search puzzles provided her with countless hours of entertainment, reflecting her sharp mind and inquisitive spirit.
A lover of western television, Geneva had a special fondness for stories that celebrated the values of perseverance and dedication. Additionally, she always cherished the opportunity to travel back home to Mississippi, where her roots lay deeply intertwined with her identity.
Above all, Geneva was a proud mother and grandmother. She found her greatest joy in her family, cultivating a warm and loving environment that nurtured their dreams and aspirations. Her legacy will continue to be felt through the lives she touched, sharing memories and lessons that will be carried on by those she leaves behind.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Marvin McCollum who passed on November 5, 2007; her children, Peggy A. McCollum, Evie L. McCollum and Jeanine McCollum.
She is survived by her son, Wayne (Teresa) McCollum; daughter, “Becky” Betty (Carroll) Price; five grandchildren, Zula (Toby) McDuffie, Lauren (Jimmy) Bowen, Courtney (Justin) McCollum Jenkins, Katrina (Jeremy) Morgan, and Brandon (Lauren) McCollum; eight great grandchildren, Danielle, Haiden, Luke, Abby, Grayson, Amelia, Aylah, and Rowen; and one great-great grandchild, Winston.
The family will receive family and friends on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Jones-Wynn Funeral Home Douglas Chapel with Pastor Randy Shirley and Pastor Matt Crowe officiating.
Interment will follow at Sunrise Gardens of Memories in Douglasville, GA.
Geneva will be remembered not only for her contributions to her community at the Post Office but also for her unwavering kindness, her passions, and the love she instilled in her family. Her memory will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew her.
