Mrs. Faye Popham Stockmar, 83 of Rome, GA passed away, Monday, July 10, 2017 at her residence. She was born October 31, 1933 in Taylorsville, GA the daughter of the late Benjamin Popham and the late Bessie Rutledge Popham. She retired from the Social Security Administration where she was a Case Representative, after her retirement she and her late husband Dodgie Stockmar owned and operated Stockmar Airport in Villa Rica until his death in 1999. She was a member of the Vans Valley Methodist Church in Rome. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a lover of hummingbirds. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lemuel Hubbard âDodgieâ Stockmar who passed away, May 19, 1999, son, John William Whitfield and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include her daughters and sons in law, Kim and Hal Davenport and Pamela and Chris Bishop all of Silver Creek, sister, Helen Wade of Rome, brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Beth Popham of Douglasville, 2 grandchildren Dustin Whitfield of Cedartown and Desiree Partin of Winston Salem, NC and 2 great-grandchildren, Zaleigh Whitfield and Declyn Whitfield also survive. Mrs. Stockmar will be interred during a private memorial at the Miners Cemetery in Villa Rica which is located where the Stockmar Airport once stood.
